To share a duvet or not to share a duvet?
The time has come to adopt a new sleep strategy, the "Scandi" way of sleeping.
Getting those essential eight hours every night is something that many of us just dream of. And yet all the research says that sleep and health are intrinsically linked to our mental and physical well being.
So lets be brave and honest about why sleeping with a bed partner and sharing the same duvet is under review. It's not that we don't love our partner, but we don't share our facecloths or underclothes so why share the same duvet ?
We don't want to upset our loved one but a conversation needs to be had. Don't panic, help is on hand to smooth the way to getting your own way, sorry I mean your own single duvet.
The Scandinavians have been sleeping with two separate single duvets for years on the same bed. There are lots of benefits for both parties in making this change.
No need to worry about your bed not looking beautiful, this bed has a 4.5 tog and a 10.5 tog duvet side by side on a king size bed. These extra large single duvets (W 165w x L 220cm) are also perfect if you have a super king size bed or even an emperor size bed.
If your partner is a duvet hogger, unintentionally of course, then there is more than just tension in the bed covers. The constant nightly tug of war is exhausting and can lead to a night of constant sleep disruption. They pull the duvet one way, then you pull it the other way leaving feet and backs exposed and both of you feeling mildly frustrated. I'm being generous with my words. The fact is your sleep patterns are being interrupted when you could both be enjoying a relaxed night's sleep. With two separate extra large single duvets it's a win win.
If your partner has the body temperature of a furnace whilst you feel the slightest chill then one duvet doesn't work. This is another very common problem where one person likes a heavy duty tog weight duvet whilst the other only wants a light weight covering all year round. If you have separate duvets you can each choose your own tog weight to suit your body temperature.
Phew, can you feel the stress level subsiding already?
You feel hot and your partner is cold?
Not a problem. Make your choice from 2.5, 4.5, 10.5 or 13.5 tog? Or you could combine a 2.5 tog duvet with another tog to make add extra-warmth to your duvet in the same single duvet cover.
Having your own duvet means you can sleep with your duvet however you like. If you want to be cocooned and swaddled in your duvet then you can. Maybe you like your duvet pulled up really high or alternatively below your neck line. However you prefer it there's no need for a consultation with your partner. You can each select your own TOG rating for the level of warmth you require.
Now that you’ve read the pros and cons of sleeping with separate duvets, have you decided to take the plunge and try the Scandinavian way of sleeping?
Great news, now it’s time to select your duvet and duvet cover set and make your next night's sleep, long, relaxed and stress free.
We are so glad that you've woken up to our way of thinking. Spread the word and help make the UK a nation of great sleepers.
