What is polycotton? – The Big Little Duvet Company

What is polycotton?

Polycotton is a versatile fabric made from the amalgamation of polyester and cotton. When combined these two material types are particularly perfect for making household textiles such as duvet covers, bedsheets, pillowcases, curtains, tablecloths and much more.

What are the key advantages of a polycotton duvet cover?
Mixing polyester and cotton gives consumers the ‘best of both worlds’ in terms of features and advantages. The man-made polyester fabric is woven with natural cotton to create a hybrid that is durable, lightweight, and soft as well as being breathable and moisture-absorbant.

The choice of fabric designs for a large single duvet is vast. here are just a few from the long single bedding collection. If you are looking for large single duvet covers in easycare polycotton then click here

Durability
One of the things that consumers have longed for is a material that feels very soft yet is longer-lasting than cotton alone. By weaving polyester with cotton, it’s now possible to have a cotton-like fabric that performs well in even the most demanding of environments.

Easy-Care
Polycotton can be washed more times than cotton without losing its shape or moisture-absorbing properties. Polycotton is ideal for bedding because it is far more wrinkle resistant compared to fully-natural cotton fibres so no need to tirelessly iron sheets and duvet cover sets.

Breathability
100% cotton offers excellent breathability but that can be at the cost of durability. By blending polyester with cotton to create polycotton, it’s possible to have a breathable fabric that is also long-lasting and in addition polycotton is more moisture absorbant than pure cotton.
